Below are scholarship and other assistance opportunities for non-credit short-term training courses. Scholarships for curriculum courses can be found here.

BCBS Firefighter Stipend Awards

To offset out-of-pocket expenses students could incur when participating in training leading to Firefighter I & II Certifications. NC Driver/Operator Pumps, or EVD Certifications.

Golden LEAF Scholarship

The Golden LEAF Scholarship strives to increase economic opportunities for North Carolina鈥檚 rural, tobacco-dependent, and economically distressed areas by investing in students who commit to attend a North Carolina institution, graduate, and return to a rural community in the state.

Students enrolled full-time can apply for the Golden LEAF Scholarship. This scholarship provides up to $2,250 annually for curriculum students and $1,850 annually for Workforce and Continuing Education students. Awards can be applied toward tuition, fees, books, supplies, transportation, childcare expenses related to attending classes, and credential testing upon course completion.

Deadlines for submission:
Fall: September 15, 2026 | Spring: December 15, 2026 | Summer: May 1, 2027

SECU Bridge to Career Scholarship

The State Employees Credit Union Foundation 鈥淏ridge to Career Scholarship Program鈥� is providing reimbursement scholarships for registration, books, certification fees, transportation, childcare, and course supplies.

Scholarships up to $500 for up to 2 courses.

The application for Fall 2027 and Spring 2028 courses will be available in June 2027.
